Technical Manager - Engine Management
Responsibilities:
- Support the VP Technical – Engine Management and the Head of Technical and Asset Management in the management of CALC owned and managed aircraft powerplants (engines and APUs) primarily in the PRC region.
- Ensure optimum powerplant shop visit preparation and execution, and effective management of related commercial exposure.
- Project management of engine shop visits, engine deliveries/redeliveries and engine valuation assessments.
- Evaluate hardware teardown condition and repair deviations from the engine maintenance manual and suggest appropriate courses of action.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with technical counterparts at OEMs and with vital service providers.
- Effectively communicate CALC engine shop visit requirements in accordance with lease agreements and/or CALC standard operating procedures.
- Support in identifying and managing emerging powerplant issues and the assessment and mitigation of technical risks.
- Assist with CALC maintenance exposure assessments including shop visit forecasts and shop visit work-scope assessment.
- MR claim assessment and validation.
- Invoice de-construction when applicable, trending/findings assessment – identification of cost drivers.
- Service Bulletin technical and commercial assessment
- Monitor engine and APU portfolio utilization and ensure data accuracy of engines and APUs.
- Supporting the execution of technical aspects of the Group’s strategy.
- Support special projects as required.
- Performing ad hoc duties and travels as assigned by the Company.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven relevant background in a technical role in an engine leasing company and/or airline(s) with proven experience in managing the delivery and/or transition of large jet engines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
- Experience with engine overhaul processes and engine hardware, assembly, operation and testing.
- Experience using engine manuals and assessing service bulletins and airworthiness directives (ADs).
- Bachelor’s degree in related engineering discipline preferred.
- A self-starting/self-motivated team player with multi-tasking ability and strong interpersonal skills will be an ideal candidate for this position.
- Proficient with MS Excel, Adobe PDF, MS Word and Outlook.
- Proven experience in budget preparation, management of engine shop visits and engine valuation assessment.
- Excellent understanding of aviation regulations, both EASA and FAA.
- Ability to work in a multi-regional and multi-cultural working environment.
- Experience in the purchase of new and used engines would be an advantage but is not vital.
- Willingness to travel extensively in support of CALC’s global business strategy.
